Maya Edwards, DPT

Education & Bio

Maya is originally from Tallahassee, Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Central Florida in 2018 before continuing her education at UCF and earning her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2025. She also holds an Emergency Medical Responder certification, complementing her passion for working with athletes and active individuals.

Maya has a strong passion for sports and helping people return to the activities they love. She was a competitive rower for 10 years, including rowing collegiately at UCF, and later coached both rowing and gymnastics. These experiences shaped her interest in sports rehabilitation and gave her firsthand insight into the physical and mental demands of athletics. She strives to help each patient recover from injury, build confidence in their movement, and maintain their independence.

Throughout her education, Maya was involved in research focused on women’s health, muscle function and recovery, and musculoskeletal ultrasound. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, and being involved in the sports and fitness community.
