BIO

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Dr. Finney attended Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, where he graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering. While attending Georgia Tech, he worked as a student athletic trainer for the Georgia Tech Men’s Basketball team as well as the Atlanta Braves. He then earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and graduated at the top of his class.

Dr. Finney completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he was selected to serve as an administrative chief resident and scored in the 99th percentile on his orthopedic in-training exam. He also served as a covering physician for the University of Michigan Men’s Lacrosse and Basketball teams.

Following residency, Dr. Finney completed a Foot and Ankle Surgery fellowship at the renowned OrthoCarolina Foot and Ankle Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina. His training there included tackling complex lower extremity deformities and reconstruction such as ankle replacements, Charcot arthropathy, arthritis, bunion and hammertoe correction, and innovative minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgical techniques. He has authored many publications, including research papers and book chapters, and he has published multiple articles in leading medical and orthopedic journals, including Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (JBJS), and Foot and Ankle International (FAI). He is the recipient of multiple research grants for his work and has presented at the local, regional, national and international level regarding various foot and ankle issues.
