OVERVIEW

John D. Henry, Jr. M.D. is a native Atlantan specializing in minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery, using the latest computer navigated technology in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. He joined Peachtree Orthopedics in 1998 after practicing at the Emory Clinic and serving as assistant professor of Orthopedics at the Emory University School of Medicine for six years. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic surgery and recently scored perfect scores on his MOC (Maintenance of Certification) exams.

BIO

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Dr. Henry earned his BS from Emory University in 1982 and his MD from the Emory University School of Medicine in 1986. He completed his orthopedic residency at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals residency training program in 1991 where he also earned the honor of serving as administrative chief resident. He then completed a prestigious fellowship in adult reconstruction / total joint replacement surgery at Harvard Medical School, Boston MA in 1992. He was recruited by his residency training program department chairman at Emory and practiced orthopedic surgery at The Emory Clinic and served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Emory University School of Medicine from 1992 to 1998. He served as the medical director for the Georgia Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation and was a question writer for The American Board of Orthopedic Surgery boards examination. He also served as chief of orthopedic surgery at the Atlanta Veteran’s Administration Medical Center.

Since joining Peachtree Orthopedics in 1998, Dr. Henry has served as chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at Northside Hospital. He continues to serve as chair of the Quality Improvement Committee for Orthopedic Surgery for all the Northside Hospital campuses. He is the physician leader of the CPG (Clinical Pathway Guidelines) Committee for the Total Joint Replacement Service at Northside Hospitals. He has also served on the Board of Trustees for The Emory University School of Medicine Alumni Association.
